Sketches
Sketching is where every idea starts for me. Before a form ever touches a computer or a piece of material, it exists as a quick line on paper, a way of thinking through proportion, gesture, and feeling before anything else gets in the way. Sketches let me work fast and stay loose, testing dozens of ideas in the time it would take to model one. Even after a piece moves into 3D modeling or fabrication, I keep coming back to those early drawings, they hold the intent of the piece in a way that's easy to lose once the process gets more technical.
